Our Sustainability

Forging Connections with Our Communities

Tayto Snacks has always been intrinsically linked with Ireland and we fully understand our responsibility to our communities and our obligation to help out where we can. By developing specific charity initiatives and running sponsorship programmes, we show our communities that we share their goals. We will continue to do our best to help promote and achieve a fairer society for all.

Care in the Community

As the leading Snack-foods manufacturer, our community expands far and wide across Ireland. We established our Care in the Community Committee in 2017 to help out people and families by engaging in meaningful and worthwhile initiatives. Our new partnership with Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

Potato Pals for Primary Schools

The Potato Pals initiative was developed by our Care in the Community committee. We designed and developed this initiative to educate primary school students on the life cycle of the potato and to provide a programme for them that is both interactive and fun. By doing so, we encourage students to be curious and ask questions while our volunteers promote active engagement throughout the programme.

We bring third class students from all over the local area into Tayto Snacks and educate the children about the humble spud. We explain how we turn that every day vegetable into tasty crisps. From the history of Ireland’s favourite vegetable right through to learning to grow their own and visiting the farm and factory, lots of ground is covered and fun is had by both children and colleagues alike!

Secondary School Collaboration

As well as helping our younger children understand more about all-things-potato, we have developed a purpose-built programme for older students in transition year in Ratoath College. Our colleagues visit the school where we give talks and invite the students to take up work experience opportunities where possible. Playing a genuine role in any community involves offering help wherever we can.

Minimising Food Wastage

In Ireland, one million tonnes of food is wasted annually. At Tayto Snacks, we work with Food Cloud to actively reduce the environmental impact of our food waste and support charities who are working with local communities around Ireland. We have already donated food to so many well-deserving charities and we look forward to continuing to make an impact on this scale for many years to come.
